ēCO Credit Union maintains our strong commitment to the communities where our members live, work, and play. We are thrilled to carry on the #eCOmmunity initiative in 2024. Through the #eCOmmunity program, we are honored to be able to highlight those who go above and beyond for their community.
Members of the community who embody the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” are nominated by ēCO employees to be “Credit Unioned.”
Homewood’s Branch Manager, Dalana Sewell, nominated Delfreda Coleman to be “Credit Unioned” for April. “I nominated Delfreda because she is energetic, joyful, helpful, kind, and very knowledgeable.,” said Dalana. “Her involvement with the Girl Scouts, and even her job as an Instructional Tech Coach, is investing into the next generation which is so needful especially nowadays.,” Dalana added. 
Delfreda serves 15 schools as an Instructional Tech Coach at the Jefferson County Board of Education. She was previously a teacher and librarian.
“Just seeing the kids blossom and hearing from the teachers how they are enjoying how they are engaged.,” said Mrs. Coleman when asked about the most rewarding part of her job.
Delfreda is a wife and mom of 2 who enjoys her Girl Scouts, traveling, and cooking when she has the time. She is actively involved in her community as a service unit manager with the Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama as well as her Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Scholarship Committee and Childhood Hunger Program (AKA CHIPP™).
“I am just speechless. This was such a surprise. It just makes my heart smile that somebody recognizes the work that I put in,” said Delfreda.
From the multiple service projects that teach and train young girls to give back to the community to hosting conferences, Ms. Coleman fully embodies the credit union`s philosophy of “People Helping People”
“ēCO has been good to me. They have been great and available,” said Delfreda. “Everything’s been wonderful with ēCO.”
ēCO Credit Union employees surprised Mrs. Coleman with a gift basket and generous cash gift at the Homewood Branch.
