ēCO Credit Union has a strong commitment to the communities where our members live, work, and play. We are excited to continue the #eCOmmunity program in 2021. We are proud to recognize those who live out the credit union mission of people helping people.
Kathryn Johnson, Gardendale Branch Manager, nominated Mayor Stan Hogeland to be “Credit Unioned” in April. She said, “Mayor Hogeland is always ready to help those in need. Recently, his community commitment shone as he allowed Gardendale facilities to be used to receive donations for those impacted by tornadoes in neighboring Fultondale.”
Mayor Hogeland has lived in Gardendale his entire life. He worked for the City of Gardendale for over thirty-five years and retired as the Gardendale Parks and Recreation Director in 2012. Before becoming Gardendale’s Mayor in 2015, he served as the President of the Gardendale City Council. He is married to Susan Hogeland and has two children.
Bill Casaday, Gardendale Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, shared several ways Mayor Hogeland makes the city a better place. From his willingness to give out his cell phone number to anyone and offer his support to his visionary efforts to bring new businesses and amenities to Gardendale, it’s obvious Mayor Hogeland is dedicated to the community. Bill said, “Mayor Stan Hogeland’s character can be seen in his hard work ethic every day of the week, his lifelong dedication to his hometown, and his constant willingness to go beyond the call of duty to help anyone at any time.”
“I always see Mayor Hogeland active in the community with businesses, schools, churches, and local sports,” said Kathryn. “I know he is working night and day to make our city the safest and best it can be. As a Gardendale resident, it is reassuring that he’s looking out for everyone.”
ēCO Credit Union employees surprised Mayor Stan Hogeland at the new Gardendale branch on Wednesday, April 28.
“This was very special to me and really caught me off guard,” said Mayor Hogeland. “I’ll be honest with you… it was emotional too because living here all your life you watch the city grow, and the city has been such a part of my life.”
Thank you for making the Gardendale community an even better place to live, work, and play, Mayor Stan Hogeland. We are thankful for your hard work and dedication!
