ēCO Credit Union is committed to uplifting the communities where our members live, work, and play. Through our #ēCOmmunity campaign, we celebrate individuals who go above and beyond in their community contributions. Our #ēCOmmunity campaign celebrates individuals who go above and beyond in their community contributions. Our employees come together to select someone who embodies the spirit of the credit union's "People Helping People" principle to be "Credit Unioned".

Gardendale's Branch Manager, Kathryn Johnson, selected Erika Mason to be "Credit Unioned" for May. "She consistently pours into her students, her school, and her community -- always going above and beyond," said Kathryn. "Whether it is her students, co-workers, friends, or family, she consistently puts the needs of others before her own," Kathryn added.

Outside of the classroom, Erika enjoys attending various sporting events and has a passion for arts and crafts. Her presence at these sporting events is a heartfelt show of support for her children and her students. Her unwavering devotion extends beyond the classroom; as a dedicated mother and wife, she courageously serves as the primary caregiver for her husband, Clark, who was paralyzed in a hunting accident. Married for nearly 17 years, Erika and Clark are blessed with two wonderful children and a golden doodle.

As she reflected on being "Credit Unioned," Erika said, "I'm so grateful that someone sees me." She added, " It's nice to be noticed for working hard, but I do it for the kids." Erika revealed that the most rewarding part of her job is building relationships with the kids and being someone they can always rely on. This connection is the greatest reward for her.

The principle of the credit union "People Helping People" is embodied in Mrs. Mason in every aspect of her work. As a National Board-Certified Teacher since 2015, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to helping others. Whether serving as a new teacher mentor, grade level chairperson, member of the after-school tutoring team, or part of the morale-boosting "sunshine" committee, Erika always shines her light. She brightens the path for those around her!

Erika was delighted when she received a surprise visit in her first-grade classroom at Fultondale Elementary from Kathryn Johnson, the Gardendale Branch Manager of ēCO Credit Union. Kathryn brought balloons, a gift basket, and a VISA gift card for Erika. To make the occasion even more special, her mother also made a surprise appearance during the celebration.

We are honored to celebrate individuals like Erika Mason for her exceptional contributions to the community. Our credit union's core principle is "People Helping People." We deeply appreciate Erika Mason and others like her who are always willing to go the extra mile for those in need.
