ēCO Credit Union remains dedicated to uplifting the communities where our members live, work, and play. Through our #ēCOmmunity campaign, we proudly recognize those extraordinary individuals who make a difference in their communities. Our employees unite in selecting someone who embodies the spirit of the credit union's "People Helping People" principle to be "Credit Unioned."

McCalla’s Branch Manager, Je’Nae Washington, and the McCalla Branch selected  Mary Ann Nevett as "Credit Unioned" for June. "She's always in great spirits when she comes into the McCalla Branch. She is so appreciative of our service to her," said Je’Nae. "She has years of teaching and helping her students excel in their education," Je’Nae added.

Mary Ann Nevett dedicated an incredible 26 years to shaping young lives within the public school system. Her journey through education has left a mark on the communities of Anniston, Sylacauga, Bessemer, and Midfield! Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Nevett displayed an unwavering commitment to her students and significantly impacted their lives. Her students still reflect on their time as one of her students when they recognize her outside of the classroom.

Mary is a devoted mother of two and a loving grandmother. As a retired educator, Ms. Nevett’s commitment to helping people did not end. Her commitment to service extends to her church community at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she serves on the tutorial staff. Along with the tutorial staff, Ms. Nevett also participates in the Sunday School Department, General Missionary Society, and the Homeless Ministry, which she has a deep passion for.  Mary Ann Nevett’s hobbies include helping people, tutoring children in reading, and providing love and care to special needs individuals. Her beautiful alto voice also enriches the sanctuary choir as a soloist, and she proudly contributes to her community through her Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

As Ms. Nevett pondered being "Credit Unioned," She said, "Words cannot express how I feel." She added, "I was totally surprised and elated, and I feel so unworthy to be recognized. I am just in total shock."

Ms. Nevett was surprised by Je’Nae Washington during her visit to the McCalla Branch. Je'Nae Washington and ēCO Credit Union awarded Ms. Nevett a gift basket and a Visa gift card. Ms. Nevett's daughter also participated in the surprise, making it all that much more special.

We proudly celebrate remarkable individuals like Mary Ann Nevett for her outstanding contributions to our community. Guided by our credit union's core principle of "People Helping People," we are immensely grateful to Ms. Nevett and those like her who genuinely love to help those in their time of need.
