ēCO Credit Union and the ēCO Credit Union Foundation are excited to share more about our 2021-2022 scholarship recipients.

A.L. Bratcher Scholarship

The A.L. Bratcher Scholarship was created in 2011 to honor the late Reverend A.L. Bratcher and his work and dedication to safe, sound, member-first financial institutions. The 2021-2022 A.L. Bratcher Scholarship is a $2,500 Scholarship presented to two high school seniors.

Yasmin Bolden

ēCO Credit Union is excited to present the A.L. Bratcher Scholarship to Yasmin Bolden. She is a senior at Shades Valley High School. In addition to excelling academically, she is also involved in her church youth group, participates in Visual Ensemble, Health Occupations Students of America, and Future Business Leaders of America, and has a part-time job. Yasmin plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham to study Healthcare Administration.  As the youngest of five children, she says a scholarship investment in her will be compounded tenfold. To conclude her essay, she quoted Maya Angelou, “If you get, give. If you learn, teach.” We can’t wait to see how ēCO’s investment in her education allows her to give and teach others.

Josie McGuire

Josie McGuire is also an A.L. Bratcher Scholarship recipient for 2021-2022. She has maintained an impressive 4.4 GPA at Leeds High School, while also actively participating in extracurricular activities and volunteering in the community. She plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham to study Neuroscience on a Pre-Medicine track; she has already been accepted into their Early Medical School Acceptance Program. Josie said, “my interest in medicine began in elementary school when my grandmother experienced multiple aneurysms and strokes. Watching her experience brain bleeds gave me first-hand experience in healthcare at a very young age.” We are excited to see Josie use her passion to accomplish great things!

ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship

The ēCO Credit Union Foundation is proud to award a $2,500 Scholarship. The ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship was established to help an adult who has returned to school to change career paths or improve in their field. The Foundation hopes the scholarship will help offset financial burdens placed on adults returning to school.

Jamaica said, “I chose to pursue a doctorate in education because I believe it will elevate my knowledge to continue helping students.” The ēCO Credit Union Foundation is honored to support Jamaica as she impacts the next generation!
