ēCO Credit Union is committed to uplifting the communities where our members live, work, and engage. We proudly recognize individuals who contribute exceptionally to their communities through our #ēCOmmunity campaign. Our employees select those who are "Credit Unioned" based on their embodiment of the credit union's "People Helping People" principle.
Trussville's Branch Manager, Trisha Bowman, nominated Dr. Orletta Rush to be "Credit Unioned" for March. "Dr. Orletta Rush is dedicated to our community and schools by working to develop future leaders and instilling values in others," said Trisha. She added, "She has dedicated her life to being an advocate for students."
For 28 years, Dr. Orletta Rush has dedicated her life to education, shaping young minds, and fostering a love for learning. Currently serving as the Deputy Superintendent for Jefferson County Schools, Dr. Rush oversees 57 schools and ensures that each provides a high-quality education to its students.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Rush enjoys shopping and creating beautiful flower arrangements, hobbies that allow her to express her creativity. Family is also a significant part of her life; she is married, has a son who is a junior in high school, and has a charming mini schnauzer named Jaxon. All are huge Auburn fans.
Reflecting on being "Credit Unioned," Dr. Rush said, "Wonderful because I really love this credit union." This award was significant to her as ēCO was her first credit union, making her feel that someone truly appreciated her efforts. "It's more than just a credit union; it's like friends," she added.
The principle of the credit union "People Helping People" is clearly illustrated in the work of Dr. Rush. She is an active Delta Sigma Theta sorority member and works closely with the Delta G.E.M.S. program, mentoring young girls and helping them achieve their full potential. Her dedication to community service extends to ACT Prep at her church and her role as a member of the Clay City Council, where she works to improve the quality of life for all residents. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and community service.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Dr. Rush's career is witnessing the culmination of her students' hard work during graduation ceremonies. Through her words, she aims to inspire them to embrace their futures with confidence and to pursue their dreams relentlessly, reminding them that their hard work has prepared them for the challenges ahead.
"Anything, any needs that I have ever had, [ēCO] is always there," said Dr. Rush, "I have been with ēCO for years, and I've never regretted any of that."
Dr. Orletta Rush was pleasantly surprised at ēCO's Trussville Branch with a gift
basket and a generous gift card by ēCO Credit Union employees.
We are grateful for Dr. Rush's outstanding contributions to the community. The credit union's core principle is "People Helping People," we appreciate individuals like Dr. Rush, who are always willing to lend a helping hand.
