ēCO Credit Union has a strong commitment to the communities where our members live, work, and play. Through the #ēCOmmunity program, we are proud to recognize people and community groups who go above and beyond for their community. Each month in 2020, members of the community who embody the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” will be nominated by ēCO employees to be “Credit Unioned.”
ēCO employees are excited to celebrate those who are working to make a difference in their communities, even amid the trying times we are all currently facing. Ana Spratlin, Branch Manager of the Alabaster Branch, nominated Dawn Hughes to be “Credit Unioned” for the month of August.
Dawn is a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service and delivers mail to the Alabaster Branch. Ana Spratlin, who nominated Dawn says, “Dawn, along with the rest of the postal service team, works tirelessly without much recognition. Dawn goes out of her way to help anyone that she delivers mail to with any need they have.”
Dawn has been a postal carrier for 17 years. “I love my job. They say if you love the job that you do, you will never work a day in your life, and that is exactly how I feel. I love all of the people I deliver mail to, and they love me,” says Dawn.
Ana Spratlin, Alabaster Branch Manager, says she nominated Dawn because she truly embodies the Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People.”
“I nominated Dawn, not only because she ensures that the community receives their packages and mail in a timely manner, but because of her character,” says Spratlin. “We have been in our new location for four years, and Dawn has done everything she can do to make sure that our mail is properly delivered. She takes the time to come inside, since we don’t have a physical mailbox at our location, and hand delivers our mail every day,” Spratlin. “Whether it’s raining, snowing, or blazing Alabama heat, she comes in ready to serve our community with a smile on her face. She truly has a servant’s heart. Dawn is more than just our postal carrier; she has become part of our family and team here at the Alabaster Branch.” .png)
Ana Spratlin and the other Alabaster Branch employees, Nicole Baird and Stacey Broadhead, were proud to surprise Dawn Hughes with a gift card and an ēCO water bottle as a small way to say thank you for her dedication and service to the community.
“Being ‘Credit Unioned’ was a complete surprise. This means the world to me. I never win anything. We have been going through a lot of hard times, and this will help. It just means so much to me. I am thankful for the nomination, and it definitely brightened my day. I feel appreciated by ēCO Credit Union. I love these ladies that work at the Alabaster Branch. Thank you so much,” says Dawn.
