ēCO Credit Union has a strong commitment to the communities where our members live, work, and play. We are excited to continue the #eCOmmunity program in 2022. We are proud to recognize those who go above and beyond for their community through the #eCOmmunity initiative.
Each month, members of the community who embody the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” are nominated by ēCO employees to be “Credit Unioned.”
Homewood Branch Manager, Dalana Crowder, nominated Darryl Walker and Ronard Boglin to be “Credit Unioned” for October. “Darryl and Ronard are always going above and beyond to assist others,” said Crowder. “We know if there is anything we need, we can call on them, and they always show up eager to help and with a smile.”
Darryl Walker has been serving as the Building Coordinator for the Jefferson County Board of Education at their current location since 1994 but has worked with Jefferson County Schools since 1985. He has been married to his wife, Jannie, for 34 years, and they share one son. Darryl is a huge Alabama fan, and when he is not cheering on the Crimson Tide, he enjoys scouting out flea markets and yard sales, as well as old classic cars.
Ronard Boglin has served as the Assistant Building Coordinator for the Jefferson County Board of Education for three years. He has been married to his wife, Sabrina, for 30 years, and they have two children, a son and a daughter. Ronard is a huge Auburn fan, and when he is not cheering on the Tigers, he enjoys old western movies, serving in his church, and working in his yard.
“Darryl and Ronard are a true reflection of the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’,” said Dalana. “They are always dependable and ready to lend a helping hand in any way they can. Whether it is helping us carry things into the office, helping us set up for events, or just stopping by to share a friendly smile and say hello, they continuously go out of their way to make sure everyone is taken care of.”
ēCO employees, with the help of some special Jefferson County Schools employees, surprised Darryl Walker and Ronard Boglin at the Homewood Branch on Monday, October 24, with Alabama and Auburn tumblers filled with goodies.
“We just love what we do,” says Darryl. “I have been doing this my whole life, and this is totally unexpected. I thought we were coming in here to move something. A quote I love to share is, ‘People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,’ and I think that sums up exactly how we should carry ourselves day to day. I just want to say thank you for nominating us. It just reminds us that hard work and being kind to each other does pay off.”
“I am excited,” says Ronard. “This is totally unexpected, and I really appreciate it. I guess it goes to show that hard work pays off, and if you are nice to people, they will be nice to you. We really appreciate everything, and I know the building appreciates the credit union being here and all that ēCO does for the community and for us.”
Thank you, Darryl and Ronard, for your hard work and always being willing to lend a helping hand. We are grateful for people like you who set an example of kindness and care for others.
