September #eCOmmunity - Michael Patton

ēCO Credit Union has a strong commitment to the communities where our members live, work, and play. We are excited to continue the #eCOmmunity program in 2023. We are proud to recognize those who go above and beyond for their community through the #eCOmmunity initiative.

Members of the community who embody the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” are nominated by ēCO employees to be “Credit Unioned.”

McCalla`s Branch Manager, Je`Nae Washington, nominated Michael Patton to be “Credit Unioned” for September. “I nominated Michael because he is a great person, has a heart of gold, and he is always friendly with us and others when he comes into our branch. We also selected Mr. Patton for the years he worked for Jefferson County Schools and all the help and knowledge he was able to pass on to the children.”, said Je`Nae.

Michael is a retired teacher. He taught in the Jefferson County School System for 32 years and was also a bus driver. He enjoys hunting, fishing, attending church, and also volunteered for the Fire Department.

“The most rewarding part of my job and serving within my community is seeing the kids that I once taught do well in life.”, said Michael.

“I love the people here at the McCalla Branch. They are just super and are like family to me. Whenever I need something, they are also there to help in hard situations”, said Michael.

Mr. Patton has been a member with ēCO Credit Union since 1995. He is always a pleasant person when he comes in. You can really see he cares when he checks on us. We even check on him if we haven’t heard from him. He has been in the McCalla community for years helping with schools and other areas as well.”, said Je`Nae

ēCO Credit Union employees and Michael’s daughter surprised him with a gift basket and VISA gift card at the McCalla Branch. Thank you, Michael, for always being able to help others and continuing to do great things for the community! We are so grateful for people like you that are always happy to help others and being the exact representation of what the credit union stands for, “People Helping People”.
