How Do You Become a Member of eCO?

ēCO Credit Union is a full-service financial institution. That’s a fancy way of saying—we offer a lot of financial products and services to meet your needs in every stage of life. Membership at ēCO Credit Union is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, Blount or Cullman County. Is that you? Are you ready to become a member? We’ll walk you through how to get started.

Join in an ēCO Branch

ēCO Credit Union has six convenient branches to serve our members. Pick the most convenient branch, and come see us. Becoming a member at an ēCO branch will take 20-30 minutes. You can call ahead to set an appointment time or just show up.

You will need to bring the following items to open your account:

  • $1—that’s right. All you need to do to become a member is deposit $1 in your share account, also known as a saving account. The $1 secures your membership and gives you a vote at ēCO.
  • Driver’s License OR Other Form of Photo ID
    • School ID
    • Passport
    • Military ID
  • If the address on your form of ID is incorrect, we’ll also need a piece of mail or bill with your name and current address.

An ēCO Credit Union team member will walk you through the process of completing a membership application. A share account is your gateway to membership at ēCO, so you’ll start by setting it up. From there, you have access to apply for other products and services.

Join Online

You can also start the membership process online. ēCO Credit Union has a quick membership application available on our website. You can access it here. After you fill out the application, you will hear from a team member within 1-2 business days to complete your membership process.

You will need to stop by an ēCO Credit Union branch to finish up your paperwork; the process will be expedited, though. Because you’ve already completed your application, it should take 5-10 minutes. You will need to bring the following items to open your account:

We appreciate your interest in membership at ēCO Credit Union and hope to see you soon!
